Horror film DVD cover - Gost Rider

This design is excellent for a DVD cover, as style of the cover include main character on the front and the tittle stands out, from the black backgrounds due to the red shading. The suitability age is also shown on both sides of the cover which allows adults to know if suitable for their children. On the left side, it includes small screen shots and a brief information about the film. This is a good technique to use to attract attention, which would make consumers read the back of the DVD cover, to get a small feeling what the film is about.

Looking at the recorded footage

As we were looking at the recorded footage, we had noticed the lighting had changed quickly, as it became darker throughout the scene. This made our group think how we would plan it in future, to avoid this, and we would need to make it flow well according to the time and lighting.

At the graveyard - the day to record the beginning scene

Today the group had met up together, and started to record the scene. This took too much time and the time went very fast as we were recording. We started around 5.30pm and finished around 6.45pm. The group also noticed that the lighting went darker quick throughout the recording process.
As a group we then finished the recording and decided to edit the footage on the Apple imac next lesson.

Typogrphy- Film Titles

We started to look at other film front covers and researched how the title fonts and background, exploring how the layout has been influenced by the genre, and the different ways it attracts the audience.

From the front cover above, the audience would know that the film is produced for children, due to the bright colour in the background which fit with the animated characters. The title also stands out from the background text which makes it more visible.

Equipment,Softwares and Props

In the making of the Main Task, there would be a range of equipment that would be used.

Use of internet
The Google search engine (www.google.com) has been used to collect information about the horror genre. Images and videos and other detailed facts would be searched.

We have also used a social utility, which is www.facebook.com. This has been very useful, as most of the peers from our school are connected through this site. This made the research of our audience much easier and efficient, instead of producing or hand out questionnaires.

We would be using a video camera, camera and tripod. All of the hardware would be borrowed from school.

Video Camera

Tripod

Nikon Coolpix L10 Camera

  • 5 megapixel digital camera
  • 3x optical zoom

Costume for character "Tomas"

The character "Tomas" would be wearing a dark leather jacket, with black jeans, and light brown trainers. This shows the simplicity of the character, and builds up the style and personality of the person. He would also have his hair trimmed from the sides, and the top part gelled forwards.
